History of the Lodge

Wyllys-St. John's traces its lineage to our 1762 charter from the Provincial Grand Lodge in Boston, Massachusetts - forming the "Hartford Lodge". After the formation of the Grand Lodge of Connecticut, Hartford Lodge took the moniker "Saint John's" and received the designation "Lodge Number 4".

After the Western Division of Hartford became the town of West Hartford, brothers of Saint John's dwelling in the newly formed town received a charter in 1866 to form Wyllys Lodge No. 99. The two lodges would merge in 1988.
